Finished in the classic combination of dark blue coachwork with black leather interior, this wonderfully restored early E Type convertible is a matching numbers example that benefits from upgrades and improvements to make it one of the nicest and most usable examples. Originally supplied by Ritchies of Glasgow in 1963, the registration document shows just three previous owners, the last of which, now sadly deceased owned the car from 2004 to last year. He restored the vehicle himself and to make it more suited to long distance European touring he fitted a 5 speed gearbox, upgraded braking system, aluminium radiator with additional cooling fan and power assisted steering.
The dark blue coachwork is almost flawless, the exterior chrome work is in very good condition, the light lenses, badges and glass are all unmarked and bright. The chrome wire wheels and spinners look almost new and the tyres all have good tread. The black folding hood is new and fits perfectly. The car has even shut lines and perfect panel alignment. On the interior the leather sports seats are fitted with Sabelt four point harnesses. The condition of the seats and belts is like new and are practical and comfortable. The wooden steering wheel offers a direct connection to the front wheels via the power assisted steering.
It comes with its original VE60 registration book, the Jaguar Heritage certificate, a photographic record of the restoration, the original chassis plate, some old MoT certificates and tax discs and old invoices to confirm the work done over the years.

Originally supplied by Ritchies of Glasgow, and dispatched on 4th March 1963, this matching-numbers Series 1 E-Type Roadster benefited from considerable expenditure while in the previous ownership (of 15 years) to make it better suited to UK and Continental touring. Upgrades include a five-speed manual gearbox; electric power steering; aluminium radiator; improved brakes; and additional cooling fans.
