Auction description:

864 Miles (Indicated)

manual

RHD

Carmen Red

3.8L Inline-Six

VIN 850507

This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster is a beautifully styled and sought-after classic British open-top sports car, which benefits from a historical restoration.

Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre straight-six fed by triple SU carburettors, delivering around 198kW to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

This example has been with the seller in Australia since 2016.

The odometer indicates 864 miles, though this is not warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster is finished in the vibrant hue of Carmen Red with a black convertible roof, over a red leather-trimmed interior, featuring a contrasting black dashboard, textured aluminium trim inlays on the dashboard, centre console, and transmission tunnel, and chrome trim accents.

It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome wire wheels with two-spoke knock-offs, fitted with Dunlop SP Sport D8 tyres.

Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths gauges, heater and ventilation controls, dashboard toggle switches, a Radiomobile push-button radio, and a passenger-side dashboard storage compartment.

CONDITION

Specific notes from the seller include: some ‘shininess’ from use, and wear on the driver’s seat bolster.

The seller notes that a small fuel line needs to be replaced, though this will be carried out before the car is handed to its new keeper.

SERVICE HISTORY

This E-Type’s most recent maintenance was carried out in 2022 by Tilley’s, Brookvale, which consisted of a major fuel system overhaul, including a new fuel tank and fuel lines, as well as the carburettors being rebuilt.

This vehicle’s VIN has been checked against the Australian Personal Property Securities Register, and there is no security interest or other registration kind logged against the serial number. This vehicle has been checked through the Austroads NEVDIS system, and there are no markers under the written-off or stolen databases.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
