Great service history

This gorgeous Jaguar was initially delivered to Henlys Group of London, originally specced in Old English White, with a red interior.

In the 80s, the interior was changed from red to black, yet the exterior colour remains the same today.

Over the years, the vehicle has no doubt been well cared for and maintained as required, as suggested by the excellent condition prior to the restoration.

Although the vehicle was in fair condition in comparison to other examples, the current keeper ensured the vehicle was given everything as required, spending a small fortune to ensure the vehicle presents itself as well as it does today.

As part of the restoration process, the car was fully stripped down and treated to an engine rebuild, new crank seals, new gearbox seals, and Dinitrol injected engine frames.

The car also received new engine frame hardware, and all suspension, brakes and underside components received either a thorough detail or replacement parts. As shown by the included imagery, the restoration truly speaks for itself, and no stone has been left unturned.

Within the paperwork, you’ll find a collection of invoices detailing key repairs and new parts, such as new bearings, outer sill repair, new wheels and more.

Also included is the V5C document, the heritage certificate to further validate the original specifications, and a collection of previous MOT certificates, which further aid the mileage figure shown.

The Interior

Black leather interior

Excellent condition for its age

Motorola radio

Manual override fan switch

Being the 2+2 model, there is more than enough space to enjoy within the cabin, which features greater headroom and plenty of room in the back.

In fact, this is surely one of the few classic performance cars that genuinely has room for the whole family and as much luggage as desired.

Although the vehicle has been mechanically overhauled and restored at considerable expense, the current owner has opted to retain the black interior from the 1980s.

Due to the age and mileage covered, the leather seats do of course show signs of wear and age as pictured. That being said, they remain as functional as ever and only add to the overall charm and character of this beautiful sports car.

Items like the steering wheel, gear knob and controls have been preserved rather well, and now show only minimal signs of use. Door cards, headlining and carpeting follow closely behind, as do the remaining interior trim components.

The only known noticeable defects within the interior to note are an incredibly minor tear to the gear gaiter, and the fact that the radio isn’t currently wired in.

Further originality can be found throughout the cabin, extending even to the boot, which showcases the spare, and an original toolkit & jack.

Overall, you are very unlikely to be displeased with how well the interior of this now 52-year-old vehicle presents itself. Sure, there are signs of age, but this is original character and charm otherwise unattainable anymore.

The Exterior

Old English White paintwork

Recently restored

Re-chromed bumpers & trim pieces

Brand new windscreen

New wheels & tyres

Gorgeous 2+2 E-Type styling

Few cars come close to the gorgeous styling of the E-Type.

The long nose, elegant rear curves and muscular stance produce a side profile instantly recognizable by most enthusiasts. This particular example does the design proud, now showing off a freshly painted exterior, re-chromed components and new wheels.

Although this vehicle presents itself in a very tidy manner having recently been restored, there are minor defects to be found along the paintwork and body.

Although incredibly difficult to see unless viewed from up close and at a specific angle, there are various raised spots within the paint, particularly towards the front, as pictured near the bonnet vents. There are also minor marks underneath the sills, as are visible in the included images.

That being said, the car presents itself in a very usable state, in which the vehicle can be driven exactly as intended, perhaps without the worry about perfect paintwork.

In addition to fresh paint, the car also received re-chromed bumpers, windscreen sides, window surrounds, side flashes and trim pieces. As a result, all chrome and brightwork is in fantastic condition, showing very few marks. The car also shows off a new windscreen, new windscreen rubbers and a new set of wheels.

Purchased in 2018, the wheels have hardly seen the road, and do of course suit the vehicle perfectly. Due to their multi-spoke style, the wheels would benefit from a thorough detail but show no noticeable defects. The wheels are wrapped in a near-new matching set of Uniroyal tyres with plenty of tread left to enjoy.

Overall, the exterior presents itself very well, showing off a balance of fresh paintwork, new chrome trim, and a tasteful amount of vintage patina.

Although not a perfect finish, the vehicle is perfectly suited for occasional drives out, and certainly wouldn’t look amiss as part of a historic collection.

The Mechanics

Recently stripped down & rebuilt

Engine rebuild

New crank seals

New gearbox seals

New or refurbished suspension & brake components

New bushes

New track rod ends & ball joints

Fully tuned carbs

Stainless steel exhaust

Manual override fan switch

Classic sports cars often leave you slightly grateful for modern advancements, and never quite seem to be as impressive as we once recalled.

This Jaguar E-Type however, is a remarkable piece of engineering, that offers grin-inducing performance more than capable of rivalling modern vehicles.

Even after all this time, the E-Type hugs the road, and happily revs throughout the gears, delivering a rewarding driving experience, and a superb soundtrack. It truly is no wonder the E-Type has earned its legendary reputation over the years.

Having recently been restored, this example does Jaguar proud and gladly performs without a single known fault.

Throughout the restoration process, the car received an engine rebuild, new crank seals front and rear, gearbox seals, new engine frame hardware, renewed or replaced suspension, brake and underside components.

The car also received a full rear-end strip down, with new differential bearings & seals and new brake pipes. As the attached underside photos reflect, a great deal of time, effort and cost has been spent here.

Upon completion of the restoration rather recently, the vehicle has covered rather few miles, save for testing runs to ensure all performs exactly as intended.

This E-Type requires nothing to be enjoyed and will continue to put a smile on the face of anyone lucky enough to be behind the wheel.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
