Ebay item 2/22/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1974-JAGUAR-XKE-ROADSTER-4-SPEED-LAST-OF-T ...
Opening bid $30,000, no reserve, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Privately owned, professionally maintained,1974 Jaguar XKE roadster. This Jag was owned by my friend Lee, an airline pilot for the last 10 years who was "annal" about maintenance on all of his vehicles. He recently passed away. After he purchased the"restored" car in 2000, it went to Jaguar wiz Gary Nye at Basically British in North Carolina and was completly taken apart and rebuilt from the ground up. Front suspension, breaks, bushings, shocks, lines, nuts bolts...all new. Rear sub frame dropped all new bushings, breaks, lines, shocks .....everything new. While the rear sub frame was removed, all of the sheet metal and mounting plates were replaced including the floors (although they really didn't need, it he wanted a brand new car) new belts, hoses, radiator have also been installed. The interior shows almost as new with slight wear to the seats, on a recent professional car appraisal (for insurance) the interior scored an "excellent" with no scores below excellent. The undercarriage was dirty and scored a "very good", engine compartment "excellent",the new Dayton wire wheels are perfect, the trunk area scored "excellent" but the spare tire is on the original wire wheel so recieved a "good". The body of this car ("restored" in 1999) is very good, a "driver", with some notable problems on the bonnet. The inside bottom trailing edge of the bonnet was wiped with seam sealer or bondo when it was "restored" (painted) which indicates to me that some rust repair was made...and not fixed properly, There is some material seperation on the lower passenger side and a small bump on the drivers side, also the bonnet has a light scratch right down the middle of the bubble (keyed?). In order to turn this car into a "trailer queen" the bonnet would have to be redone.

This car runs like brand new, the electrical system has been completly gone through about three years ago there are NO mechanical issues with this car at all, I would not hesitate to hop in this Jag and drive it anywhere (although the gas milage isn't to great!). This was originally an air conditioned car with factory air. While the car was apart Lee decided that the air conditioner wasn't needed because he never planed to put the top up. The air system is included with the car. The grill surround and grill is also included (although I think it looks better without) it shows well but there is a small ding in the upper chrome surround. The top is brand new and has only been up once and that was just to see how well it fit....it fits perfect! have owned this car since Lee died in 2008 and have continued to keep up the level of maintenance that the car should have, it is a "no excuse" Jaguar in need of a new home.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
