Ebay item 8/12/05

Current bid $15,100.00 (Reserve not met), 4 bids, 8 days left in auction. 42k miles.

Sellers description:
This great looking Jaguar XKE III series Roadster represents a prime opportunity for you to own a classic and very collectible sportscar that still has very good potential to increase in value. This vehicle has only been owned by 3 people and has spent most of its life in California in a garage. The low mileage and functionality of this car make it a great driver as well as give it potential to be a show car with some work.

The vehicle was inspected by a local car expert (Red at Carriage Masters) for the purpose of an appraisal. The vehicle was determined to be in good condition and worth between $47,500 - $59,800.

The car appears to run well, however no mechanical inspection was done and we are not mechanics. The car does have A/C, however it is not currently working.

Overall, the condition of the car is good. It does have a few minor dings as well as some deteriorating rubber along the bumper and other similar areas. The interior looks good. We did not see any major rusting on the vehicle and the convertible top looks good. It appears to have a small tear reparied and there is slight discoloration on the rear window. All these things are typical of a non-show car of this age.

This vehicle also comes with the hard top! Which is a RARE thing for these vehicles! The Thor hammer and wheel knock are also included.

This car is in its original condition

Car returns to ebay 7/2/06

Current bid $10,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction. Current location Calabasas, California.

Sellers description:
excellent example of well-maintained original Jaguar XKE Convertible with less than 43,000 original miles. I purchased this car about a year ago from a very nice older lady. I believe she was the second owner. She had the car for about 15 years. It has always been a California car and has always been garaged and extremely well cared for. There is a box full of maintenance receipts, documentation and various Jaguar memorabilia. I had every intention to keep this car, but I have recently moved and do not have enough room to keep it.

The body on this car is in great condition. It has the original (creamy white) paint. There are a few areas that have been touched up over the years due to parking lot dings, etc., but the car still looks great and has never been repainted. I have not seen any rust anywhere on this car. The soft top is a thick black vinyl. There is a two-inch area on the soft top that was repaired many years ago, but it was stitched up nicely. The hard top and its headliner are in excellent condition. The hard top's weather stripping is in overall good shape, but the weather strip at the bottom rear area could stand to be replaced, where the top meets the trunk area. The car has the original spoke wheels and they are in great shape. The leather interior was completely redone in the last 10 years and is in excellent shape. The only area I can think of that needs attention are the sun visors, as the foam inside has disintegrated over the last 30 years and could stand to be replaced.

This car has power steering, power disc brakes, new tires and cold blowing air conditioning. The air conditioning compressor is brand new. The car runs great and has been recently serviced. The transmission was completely rebuilt less than 100 miles ago. The car does not smoke at all and drives very fast and smooth, and shifts perfectly. The engine could use a detailing, and I do not have the heat shields. The car has the original radio with an 8-Track player, but it does not work. I have never looked into it and it may just be a fuse. All the gauges work.
The vin # is UE1S24084BW
The Engine # is 7914619LB
The gearbox # is 16909
The N.A.D.A. guidebook lists the value range of this model car, with air conditioning, as follows: Low - $32,350, Avg - $44,450, High - $62,550. I would rate the quality of this car somewhere between Avg and High. However, I have set the reserve price significantly below the Avg value.

The car is registered in California with the license plate "JAG E" and that plate is worth a considerable amount of money by itself. It goes with the car. The car is located in the Los Angeles area and is available for inspection.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
