Surprisingly original car, in it's 18th year of restoration. Only the cylinder head is non-original.

When new, the car appears to have been ordered with non-standard black interior and chrome wheels. Car was imported from Texas in 1989. It appears to have been maintained by someone in the aviation industry, judging by the aircraft duralumin used to repair some of the holes, and some replacement fasteners.
I would like to findout some history, but don't know how to start.
One nice discovery is the body number chalked on the dash panels and inside the tailgate from manufacture.

Work progresses slowly but I have managed to pick up some nce NOS parts alongthe way.
This car seems to have spent its final US years in Houston Tx, and may have visited Houston MG Car Club foubder Nick Nichols' "Old World Autos". Also a body shop at 3510 Elser(Houston) owned by "Charlie and Danny" - either T&S or C&S Paint & Body shop. Both possibly1981. Anyone here remember that far back? Info most appreciated

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
