Car listed for sale on craigslist:
batonrouge.craigslist.org/cto/d/1964-jaguar-type-38/6345385568.html
Sellers description:
1964 Jaguar E-Type
VIN: 881451
condition: fair
cylinders: 6 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 104400
paint color: green
title status: clean
41 years owned 3.8 E-Type. Complete car. Showing 4,400 miles, believed to be 104,400. Originally Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Blue interior, now British Racing Green with Tan interior. Purchased in 1976 and was a daily driver until 1986 when a deep puddle got water into the engine and it sent a connecting rod out through the oil pan. Bonnet and engine were removed, spare engine purchased for donor crankshaft. Numbers matching block (see pictures) and head were retained and are included with the sale. Numbers matching early "crash box" transmission is with the car. Project went onto back burner and then house/garage/car were flooded in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Car was not insured at the time, so owner retains clean title. Donor engine was refilled with oil and spun to put oil up into the head. Floor pans and the ribs on the boot floor have been replaced/repaired due to rust in the 1980s. The rest of the car shows surface rust on unpainted surfaces from being submerged, but very little other rust, a few bubbles on one outside rocker.
The plan was to take the crankshaft from the donor engine (a 3.8 Mark II engine with an identical crankshaft - see LA engine number in picture) and put it back into the matching numbers block and head and put that rebuilt engine back into the car.
Items not included (are for sale elsewhere), but are negotiable with this sale are the black factory hardtop, a spare 3.8 E-Type 9:1 compression ratio block (R8947-9), a spare 3.8 E-Type head, a later all synchro transmission from a 4.2 E-Type, and a set of Zenith Stromberg carbs.
Asking price $45,000 but open to offers.

Interesting, this car was submerged in 2005 Hurricane Katrina, but the ad from the above EBAY listing does not even mention it.....at all
That's why this site (xkedata) is so important.

Viewed this vehicle before it went on the market, it never was under any water, the homeowners house had a small amount of flood water, the car was fine, hence no claim was needed or made, the spare engine and trans was covered in water only ?

My info was obtained from the Craig's list ad in October, and if the car wasn't insured as the ad states, there would be no insurance claim. You can do wonders with a power washer.
