Ebay item 5/19/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-1964-Jaguar-XKE-Roadster-Series-I ...
Current bid $40,100 reserve not met, 6 bids, 3 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Excellent driver, could easily be a show winner. Very accurately restored with correct parts such as Chaney hose clamps, correct hoses, correct wire ties, correct colors. Exterior is Jaguar Carmen Red. Engine compartment has many fully polished aluminum parts (not chrome plated). Everything works, even the clock. Original engine 3.8L, original transmission, original rearend, mostly orginal fastners. Areas that are not seen have SS fastners. All numbers match. I purchased this classic in1980, personally did a complete restoration in 81-82. Showed in regional JCNA Concours d'elegance and earned three 2nd's and 1 third. Drove this classic a few miles each year until 1999. Then parked until August 2007. Always stored inside. From September through May 2008 I have updated the restoration. New SS Falcon exhaust system with polished resinators and correct SS clamps and new rubber mounts. Headers have just been cleaned and porcelean coated just as they came from the factory. Restored brake system with SS master cylinders and rebuilt wheel cylinders front and back. Rebuilt engine electrical system including generator, voltage regulator, plug connectors, and plug wires. Replaced points and coil with electronic ignition, very difficult to tell it has been replaced, and can easily be returned to original. New fuel pump. Carbs cleaned and tuned. New Optima battery (original looking Lucas show battery is available through the internet). Rebuilt cooling fan motor. New head nuts, new D washers, and new valve cover nuts. Looks great, runs great, good oil pressure and does not run hot. Interior is very correct and looks brand new. Entire care is fully detailed. Paint has a few scratches and marks. Two small dents in the bonnet. Convertible top has two very small holes. Radiator is an after market product (correct radiators are now available through the internet). When I had the rearend and exhaust out I painted the underside and wheel wells Carmen Red and the heat shields black. Many spare and left over parts from restoration. To be a 95+ show car it would need to be repainted with very minor body work.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
