    Info gathered with permission from:
    www.hendi.nl/xke/main.htm

This car was located in Illinois in mid-1979. It was later advertised, still in Illinois, in mid-1981. At that time it was described as being disassembled.

The above mentioned ad is found in the August '81 issue of Ejag magazine, placed by "Phil in Chicago". The ad read:

1961 XKE Roadster number 875324, "Disassembled but complete. Restorer's dream. NOS parts, rough body done, rust free.

Thecarnut.com advertises for USD 79'000 as follows:
This is a matching numbers very early series 1 3.8 roadster with the outside bonnet latches, welded bonnet louvers and flat floors. The body
on this car is very nice and rust free. I have checked the car with a magnet and could not find any significant amount of filler anywhere! The
paint looks okay from 20 feet but has scratches, minor dings, cracks, etc. Chrome and glass are good. All gauges, switches and accessories
(except clock) in working order. The interior kit was replaced some time ago and still looks very good. Proper materials and patterns were
used for the interior with the exception of the soft top which is currently vinyl and it should have been done in cloth.

Mechanically the engine is in great condition with very good oil pressure. I had a compression test done before purchasing the car and
cylinders were all around 160psi. Suspension feels nice and tight. Overall this is a very good driving car.

What has really impressed me about this car is that most of its rare original "bits and pieces" have not been modified. Only 500 external
bonnet latch cars were made, of those 385 were LHD roadsters. In the 1970's Jaguar e-type were just a used car and most were abused
and discarded. This car still retains its original engine and it appears all the body panels are still the original. To my surprise the spare tire is
still the original Dunlop Road Speed with its big white walls. It appears the spare tire has been used only a few times.

This car is perfect for the Jaguar enthusiast that appreciates the uniqueness and rarity of the early e-type. It can be driven an enjoyed as is
and a cosmetic refreshing done at a later date. Needless to say this is one of the most collectible Jaguars and one that represents
    potentially a very good investment.
Includes owners' manual, original shop manual, Shelley jack, knock off hammer, original spare tire

    Price: $79,000

These very early e-type are considered the most rare and desirable as they represent the XKE it its most pure form. Finding one that still has its original mechanical components (engine, gearbox, etc) plus its original body panels is extremely rare.

The body on this car is very nice and rust free. I have checked the car with a magnet and could not find any significant amount of filler anywhere! The paint looks okay from 20 feet but has scratches, minor dings, cracks, etc. If this car had a superb paint job it would easily be a $100K+ car. Chrome and glass are good. All gauges, switches and accessories (except clock) in working order. The interior was replaced some time ago and still looks very good. Proper materials and patterns were used for the interior with the exception of the soft top which is currently vinyl and it should have been done in cloth. There is a 2 inch rip on the soft top, the back plastic is nice and clear.

Mechanically the engine is in great condition with very good oil pressure. I had a compression test done before purchasing the car and cylinders were all around 160psi. Suspension feels nice and tight. Amazing, the engine leaks no oil! Overall this is a very good driving car.

A cosmetic refreshing can be done at a later date, if desired. Needless to say this is one of the most collectible Jaguars and one that represents potentially a very good investment. Most outside latch e-types are either concourse restoration, thus costing $120K+, or in need of everything. Needless to say if any of the unique features is missing finding a replacement is close to impossible.

Includes owners' manual, original shop manual, Shelley jack, knock off hammer, original Dunlop spare tire, maintenance chart, special key to open bonnet.

Feel free to call me at 678-521-7893 with questions. There are additional photos of the car posted on my web site including photos of the unique features of this early XKE.

Car now offered in Kilchberg, Switzerland, near Zurich.
    www.classicdriver.com/uk/1000.asp

    Sellers description:
The real Jaguar E-Type! Very rare pre-production E-Type roadster. Nr. 324 of 387 ever produced. All matching numbers, including body, engine, engine head, transmission, bonnet and obviously most of the panels. (number inconsistency as not unusual with Jaguars of that time: body number of following production car) Car has been in the US for all its life and was imported to Switzerland recently. All taxes are paid, but the car does not have registration yet. In the recent years the car has not been driven a lot. This means that some work is required to have it great and roadgoing. Engine and transmission are very good, the body makes a good impression as well, but panels show some deformation and paint is bad. The brakes have to be revised before taking it to the road. The hood is in PVC and should be changed. The interior has been redone some time ago and looks very good, except for the instrument cover which should be redone. All in all a very rare opportunity to acquire one of the most exciting Jaguar E-Type which definitely deserves to receive some good treatment by an enthousiast. It will make great pleasure to drive. Car is located 3 km out of Zurich and ready for inspection. All indications to be verified by buyer. Private sale based on Swiss law. No warranties. Price on negotiation.
