Robert, I own RHD OTS 850784 and my research shows a build date of Nov,63. I note you comment 850785 is a '62. Can I ask where you got this information?

Doug, not sure Robert is still watching this, it looks like an auction report to me...and they're notoriously unreliable when it comes to reporting minor details like dates, car numbers, descriptions, photos. ;^)

Hi I owned 850784 for many years in the late 70s
From memory we bought it in 1975 and sold it around 1980.
Had a lot of fun in that car.
It was our only car and was used to commute to work and also take part in Jaguar club
They are to valuable to do that now.
I'm glad we owned her when we did,

Lot 33 at Brightwells Timed Sale of Classic Cars and Motorcyles at Leominster on 3 August 2022. Sold for £84,000. Abbreviated catalogue description below.

The Heritage Certificate states the original date of manufacture was 22 November 1963 and this car was supplied through Henlys London on 3 December 1963. Originally painted Cream and fitted with Black trim and hood. It was first registered 110PE, the engine number, RA4354-9, is on both the head and the block in the car, the head is numbered AD571.

Being a 1963 model, 3819RW benefits from the revised deeper footwells introduced in June 1962 as well as more adjustable seats. It also has the attractive central console. Little is known of the early history and it must have been off the road or spent time overseas. There are invoices for a rebuild between 1982 and 1984 by Metalcraft Developments for £12,515.50. The V5C shows it was then UK registered on 11 November 1985 following the rebuild.

In April 1994 it was repainted and later Morris Minor Garages did mechanical work to the engine and gearbox, clutch and suspension. A new bonnet was fitted and there were repairs to the doors, rear wings, windscreen and scuttle. The interior was retrimmed, a new hood fitted and the car resprayed Carmen Red. The vendor purchased the car in 1999 and carried out work.

Works included a new steering rack, restored radiator with Kenlowe fan, uprated Coopercraft brakes, uprated servo, uprated starter motor and a new alternator. It was later rewired and VSE reconditioned the engine. A new front frame and 5 speed gearbox was installed by E Type Fabs. It has been well maintained by the vendor and is ready for new adventures.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
