Ebay item 7/5/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $23,100.00 (Reserve not met), 7 bids, 5 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1971 Jaguar XKE convertable. I am selling this car for a dear friend of mine who bought it at a Palm Springs exotic car auction in October of 1999. The odometer reading was certified to be 48849 at that time. It was then transported to his place in Eastern Washington, and has been driven less than 100 miles since he bought it. It was driven in a few parades, and a couple car shows. The vehicle is being sold because of medical issues at this time. Despite some of the Lucas electrical problems, the car has been a excellent driver. The car appears to be in original cond. with some interior wear evident . Not excessive, certainly, but not in Concourse condition. There is no sign of rust cancer. The paint has been redone at some time. It is quite good and since always garaged, in excellent conditions. The engine runs well, and of course, the exhaust has that legendary Jaguar sound--unlike any other. the electic fuel pump was replaced a year ago, but other than that no repairs have been necessary. This is a fine example of the most beautiful car ever designed and deserves an owner that appreciates what it is.

Gorgeous 1970 Jaguar XKE. Good solid XKEs are getting very hard to find and this is one of the few left for sale here in California. This is a long-time California car that shows no evidence of major damage or rust. The paint and body is excellent and is color sanded smooth and looks great. The front of the nose is very smooth and straight and the bonnet fits perfectly. Under the hood, this vehicle is very original and very clean. The interior is worn but still presentable. You can see the wear in the photos. The chrome and fit and finish are all excellent. The car runs and drives very well and is ready to be driven and enjoyed.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
