Lot #127699

This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II 2+2 was purchased new by author Ray Bradbury’s wife Maggie from Charles H. Hornberg Jr. Motor Cars in Beverly Hills, California. The car was fitted with a Chevrolet 350ci V8 and a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission under prior ownership, and it is finished in bronze over tan leather. Additional equipment includes chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors, a dual exhaust system, a louvered clamshell hood, front bucket seats, a JVC stereo, and air conditioning. This XKE 2+2 was recently acquired by the selling dealer and is now offered in Florida with an owner’s manual, a service booklet, and a clean California title.

The car is finished in bronze, and removable white vinyl roundels were added to the doors and louvered clamshell hood by the selling dealer. Exterior equipment includes a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, and quadruple exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels are mounted with 205/70 Hankook Optima H724 tires that show date codes from 2017. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The 2+2 cabin houses bucket seats that were reupholstered in tan leather under previous ownership and are complemented by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. An aftermarket air conditioning system and a JVC head unit have been installed, and additional interior appointments include a locking glovebox and Jaguar-branded rubber floor coverings.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.

The Chevrolet 350ci V8 was installed under previous ownership along with a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes an E-Type-branded air cleaner, Jaguar-branded valve covers, and a dual exhaust system.
