Ebay item 8/6/19

www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Jaguar-E-Type-Series-III-Coupe-2-2/254322011362

Classified ad price: $62,900, seller garagekeptmotors, 41k miles.

Seller's description:

1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III Coupe 2+2

- Regency Red

- 5.3L V12

- Automatic Transmission

- AC Blows Cold

- Locally Owned Since New

When choosing a classic car, "provenance"-the history of ownership and maintenance of the particular example under consideration-is an important part of the buying decision. The Series III E-Type 2+2 offered here is presented with a comprehensive history of ownership, all in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The car was purchased new by a physician who would own the car for the ensuing 20 years. The second owner would hold the car for another 15 years, ultimately offering it to his favorite charity event where it was raffled to its third and current owner in 2012. Consistently serviced by Verburg's Automotive throughout its life, recent maintenance included new weather stripping, new radiator, renewed fuel system, new Opus distributor system, and rebuilt carburetors (by John Twist of University Motors). The car was resprayed in the late 1990s in its original Regency Red color.

The stunning good looks and design excellence of this 2+2 are evident in the more than 175 photographs on the GarageKeptMotors website. From every angle, the lines of the car in its lustrous deep red color represent pure automotive art. The car's overall condition is exemplary. With a mere 43,000 miles (under 1,000 miles per year) on its odometer, this has clearly been a loved classic from day-one. Inside the car, every surface-from the appropriately creased, original tan-leather upholstery, flawless dashboard, spotless carpeting, to the original Smiths instrumentation-displays the exceptional care of the car's prior owners. It's no different under the "bonnet." The characteristic front-hinged hood opens to reveal the 12-cylinder heart of the car, yet another view of what can only be called automotive artwork. And here, too, every surface is spotless, every aspect of the monocoque-surrounded engine bay as tidy as the day the car rolled out of the Jaguar Works in Coventry. All of the car's operating systems, including the smooth Borg Warner automatic transmission, function as they should. This is a grand touring experience - the current client has travelled every year from Grand Rapids to Detroit to attend the Dream Cruise. Highway speeds with cold AC and zero issues.

This Series III E-Type 2+2 Coupe is just a pleasant road-trip away from its next owner's garage. And whether that's a trip of a few miles, or across country, we can pretty much promise it will be the drive of a lifetime. Pack your bags, store them in back, settle in behind the wheel... and drive!

This 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 is finished in Regency Red over a biscuit interior and is powered by a 5.3-Liter V12 engine paired with a three speed automatic transmission. With only 44,377 miles, this is an all numbers matching car (chassis, engine, transmission and body) including the original paint and interior combination as confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Often said, a car is only original once, therefore the work done has been sympathetic to this philosophy to update or maintain mechanically whilst striving to keep the car as original as possible. This work is described below and listed with receipts included in the sale along with a clean California Title.

Beautiful Regency Red paint that is a richer and darker shade of the often seen Signal Red. Being 50 year old paint, it has some expected marks and chips and has been touched up in places, and there is some light cracking on the roof highlighted in the pictures. This car looks spectacular and is the best of both worlds - perfect for driving regularly and taking to car shows. No rust, this is an extremely clean and solid car inside, out and underneath. All the chrome work and glass and mirrors look fantastic.

Replacement rubber seals around the doors and windows, updating the headlights to be brighter, and slightly wider 215/70R15 tires wrapping the 15” steel wheels that feature chrome Jaguar caps all add to the pleasure and comfort of driving one of the most beautiful cars ever designed.

Interior appointments include replaced dash-top vinyl covering, recharged and replaced AC compressor for cold blowing air conditioning that works perfectly, RetroSound digital radio to match the look of the original adding Bluetooth, USB cable and SirusXM, heater and shoulder belts along with lap belts in the rear. An original Jaguar wood steering wheel was purchased and replaced the factory leather wrapped wheel which is included along with the old AM/FM radio. As the interior is 50 year old leather and fabric there is some wear, marks and fading highlighted in the photo gallery - but is incredibly comfortable and the drivers seat has been re-padded.

Smiths instruments consist of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, water temperature and fuel level. The five digit odometer shows 44,377k miles. All gauges and interior lights and switches are fully operable with a restored speedometer and replaced oil pressure sending unit. Dashboard lights were replaced with SNG Barrett LED bulbs.

Almost $35,000 in receipts can be provided that outline the work completed. This includes:

Upgraded ignition kit

New aluminum radiator and fan set-up

Electronic fuel pump

Upgraded and replaced the power steering rack

Brake calipers, pads updated with EBC Kevlar and handbrake set

Stromberg Carb sync and tune ups

Replaced brake master cylinder and new brake Servo assembly

Replaced exhaust system with an original refurbished system

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The automatic shifts smoothly and is a joy to drive in both traffic and longer touring trips with loads of power from the V12 engine. It drives straight, with no pull and stops confidently with the upgraded brakes. Thanks to additional cooling, the engine temperature stays cool even on 95 degree plus days.
