Above auction description:
This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II OTS was with its second owner from 1972 through 2003, when it was purchased by the seller's brother. Power comes from its numbers-matching 4.2 liter inline-six, which is paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Maintenance has been performed by the same Sarasota-area shop since 1990, and a major mechanical refurbishment took place in stages in recent years. The suspension and brakes were rebuilt in 2011 as detailed below, the engine was rebuilt and fitted with triple SU carburetors in 2012, and the car was repainted in 2013. Per the seller the car is ready to enjoy, and they have used it for several longer road trips. It is sold with a clean South Carolina title in the seller's name.

The seller acquired the car in 2013 after the refurbishment work had been completed. Dayton wires are fitted with knock-off spinners from a Series I, though the correct Series II items are included along with the corresponding tools. The convertible top shows some creasing in the material and a matching top boot is included.

A full repaint was commissioned in 2013, and the floors, inner and outer rockers, wheel arches, and wheel wells are noted to be solid by the seller. The windshield wipers are not currently working, though the seller will be including a new wiper motor with the car.

The interior is unmodified apart from an older cassette deck fitted in the stock location. All interior features are said to work as they should apart from the speakers. The seller is including a new un-installed Wilton carpet kit with the sale. The seats are upholstered in correct black leather and are fitted with stock headrests. The 98k indicated miles are believed accurate.

The original 4.2 liter twin cam inline-six has been upgraded with triple SUs topped with individual air cleaners. Two major mechanical overalls have been performed over the last several years. In early 2011 a new exhaust system was fitted, the rear end was rebuilt, the differential resealed, and the suspension and brakes overhauled with new shocks, springs, brake rotors, and rebuilt calipers. In 2012 the engine was removed and rebuilt, and the triple carb manifold was added.

Engine #7R12055 is original as confirmed by the data plate pictured in the gallery. Per the seller the car is ready to drive, has no mechanical needs, and has been maintained by the same mechanic since 1990 at Twincam Sports Cars in Sarasota, Florida.

Some bubbling is visible near the jack points. Records of services performed since 2003 are included, as is a service manual, the owner's manual, and stock air box parts pictured in the gallery.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
