Additional description from above auction:
Lot Number: 24
Originally finished in Opalescent Silver Blue and equipped with automatic transmission, this notably early E-type 2+2 was supplied new to Texas. Treated to a factory-supplied replacement Abbey Panels bonnet in 1988 and resprayed black, the Jaguar was repatriated some four years later but minus its engine and gearbox. Ill health caused the car's subsequent restoration to stall but not before it had been professionally converted to right-hand drive and fitted with a fully overhauled, correct-type 4.2 litre engine. The latter was sourced from marque specialists VSE who also supplied a four-speed manual gearbox, triple SU carburettors and numerous other parts. The vendor believes that completing the project will prove comparatively straightforward albeit labour intensive. The E-type's paintwork has microblistered and its Dark Blue leather upholstery is somewhat scruffy. Offered for sale with Manufacturer's Statement of Build, C&E 386 Customs Clearance Form, VSE engine data sheet and numerous invoices.
