A very good 2+2 with low mileage, few owners and matching numbers. Original leather in good condition, Tudor fabric roof, good quality repaint 10 years ago and sensible modifications, updated brakes, fuel pump and improved cooling. An absolute joy to drive.

The engine number is rather curious for a matching numbers 2+2, since all 2+2 cars had an engine number in a series starting at 7E 50001

CarFest North 'Pride & Joy' Auction
1966 Jaguar E Type Series 1 2 + 2 Coupe
Lot No.: 130
Registration: To be confirmed
Chassis Number: 4E501465
Engine Number: 7E22789
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 4.2
Year of Manufacture: 1966
Sold for (£): 26,096.00
The vendor informs us that this Series 1 2 + 2 is an original UK matching numbers car which is in superb order mechanically with excellent oil pressure and no overheating problems thanks to a major engine mechanical overhaul to fast road spec within the last twelve months, which cost in excess of £6000 . It is no surprise that the car drives particularly well and handles superbly. This particular car also benefits from Coopercraft brakes, improved cooling system with Kevlar hoses, new stainless steel exhaust, upgraded fuel pump, new suspension bushes and high power halogen headlights, along with new chrome wire wheels with the proper Dunlop Sport Aquajet tyres. We are informed by the vendor that the car was rolling road tested in May of this year confirming 210 BHP at the wheels. Finished in Opalescent metallic silver with contrasting Ox blood red leather this looks absolutely magnificent viewed from any angle. The added 9 inches in length that the 2 + 2 doors incorporate makes this car one of the most comfortable E-types available to drive, especially for the taller driver. This is a marvellous example of a very iconic motor car.
