Factory RHD car
Extensively refurbished example

This factory right-hand drive Jaguar E-type is thought to have been an Australian delivery car, although we have been unable to confirm this at the time of writing, passing to the most recent owner in March 2012. As documented by the large receipt file that accompanies the car, the Jaguar has undergone considerable refurbishment in recent years, with more than $18,000 in expenditure in October 2012 alone, including all new trim by renowned specialist Gary Blackman. The vendor reports the car is in good running order and recent work has included replacing all the suspension bushes. Finished in Red with matching upholstery and chrome wire wheels (on new tyres), the Jaguar presents well throughout and is a lovely example of the super desirable 4.2 Series 1 FHC, one of the last made before the changeover to the so-called Series 1.5 took place. Showing 91,228 miles at the time of cataloguing, the car is registered in Victoria and will be sold unregistered with a history file.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
