Hi. I own car 1E21440 and I remember having a ride in this car in Ashburton when owned by a contact of my sister about 1972-5 and noted the car number was only 4 later.Looks to still be in good condition.

This car is now fitted with 5 &1/2 inch competition wire wheels with radial tyres, as delivered to New Zealand in 1966.

Hi Roger,

was your E-Type by any chance owned in the past by my old friend, the late Alex Bright of Auckland, once President of the Auckland branch of the JDC?

Hi, Apologies for the late response! Yes, it was owned by Alex Bright. I decided that I wanted to buy this car when I first saw it, and followed it for around 8 years, to finally purchase it from his Estate. It is now fully restored to concourse standard and used mainly for the odd outing and Jaguar Drivers Club events, Interestingly, I believe the car was originally supplied with competition wire wheels, which disappeared during Alex's ownership. I have purchased a competition set which are currently mounted on the car.

Just came across this old picture of Alex with his E-Type in 1975 (you can just make out the competiton wires) and myself with my 1951 XK120 - 660864, the ex Ray Archibald car that he raced a lot in the early days.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
