Auction description:
Scottsdale 2014
Consignment # 7150
VIN: 1E17459
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale WITHOUT RESERVE and SOLD to the highest bidder January 15th-19th at Russo and Steele's 14th Annual Scottsdale, Arizona Auction
This 1968 Jaguar E-Type (XKE) Roadster has been finely restored over the past several years, carefully adhering to originality of details, materials, and colors. Admired around the world for its simplistic and curvaceous flowing lines and proportions, the XKE exemplifies a brilliant blend of beauty and brawn. Its sophisticated DOHC engine produces 265 hp with an intoxicating exhaust note. The synchromesh 4-speed transmission provides for spirited driving taking full advantage of the power and torque of the engine. The chrome wire wheels with knock-off spinners compliment the classic features of this vehicle. It is a low mileage car featuring all original components as described on the official Jaguar Heritage Trust production record certificate that accompanies the car. As a Canadian version delivered in May 1968 to Toronto, Canada, it did not have to meet the omission and safety standards as required for all US delivered cars. It features 3 side-draft SU carburetors as opposed to the 2 Stromberg units on US cars. It also has the clean looking European style bumpers. Remaining in the Toronto area it has been enjoyed as a summer ride and safely tucked away in the winter.
The restoration work included:
-fresh paint with the original Opalescent Silver Blue color
-new convertible top in a classic blue Hartz Stayfast material
-a newly fitted convertible top 'boot' in blue Stayfast material
- new interior including navy blue Wilton carpet, supple navy blue leather coverings on the seats, console and door panels and navy blue Hardura vinyl covering on the door sills
-new original tan color interior trunk panels
-new original style Pirelli tires
-rebuilt brake calipers with fresh pads at all 4 wheels
-new shock absorbers
-other steering and suspension parts as needed
-rebuilt radiator
-rebuilt cooling fans
-rebuilt engine head to factory specifications
-fresh tune up with new high tension wires, spark plugs, coil, distributor cap, rotor, and condenser
-high grade stainless steel exhaust system including newly porcelain coated exhaust manifold as originally supplied from the factory
-restored fuel tank, sending unit and fuel pump
