This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was purchased by the seller in March 1990 and subsequently refurbished. The car is finished in red with a black soft top over a black interior, and power comes from a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.31:1 differential. Modifications include an Ansa exhaust, 15×7″ Dunlop wire wheels, Koni shocks, and porcelain exhaust manifolds. New upper ball joint boots and a brake fluid reservoir were fitted in November 2019 while new spark plugs and a battery were installed in December 2020, along with a carburetor tune and a detailing. This XKE is now offered in Georgia with a color-matched hardtop, its removed wire wheels with redline tires, a tool kit and jack, a car cover, a copy of the May 2012 issue of Classic Motorsports Magazine featuring a cover story on the car, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
Delivered from the factory in Carmen Red, the car received replacement rocker panels and floor pans before it was repainted in its current red in 1991, reportedly by Just Jags of Hazelwood, Missouri. Features include split chrome bumpers, uncovered headlights, and taillights mounted above the rear bumpers. The black soft top can be seen up close in the gallery, along with the color-matched hardtop.
Chrome 15×7″ Dunlop wire wheels were installed during the seller’s ownership and are mounted with 225/60 Goodyear Eagle VR60 tires. A 5″-wide chrome spare wheel is mounted under the trunk floor along with a tool kit and jack, and the removed chrome wheels with redline tires are included in the sale. Spax shocks are fitted, and overhauls of the brake system and rear suspension were reportedly performed by Cherokee Motor Sports of Speedwell, Tennessee, in 1999. EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads are fitted at all four corners, and a chassis and suspension lubrication was performed by Simpson Racing of Buford, Georgia, in November 2019 along with the installation of a new brake fluid reservoir and upper ball joint boots.
The cockpit was retrimmed in black upholstery with matching carpets by Just Jags in 1990. Lap belts are fitted along with Jaguar-branded rubber floor mats.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel with a Jaguar center crest frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inoperable inset clock, while auxiliary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are mounted in the center of the dash. The speedometer was reportedly recalibrated when the replacement differential was installed. Just under 43k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, 5k of which were added by the seller over 30 years. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and was installed during previous ownership. The engine was reportedly rebuilt by Cherokee Motor Sports in 1999 and again by Terry’s Jaguar of Benton, Illinois, in 2006. Modified camshafts are fitted, along with porcelain exhaust manifolds, a spin-on oil filter, and an aftermarket radiator with an electric fan. A November 2019 service included an oil and filter change and an adjustment of the ignition points, while a new battery and spark plugs were fitted in December 2020 along with a carburetor tune and a fluid check.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission that was reportedly rebuilt in 1999, at which time the clutch and fuel tank were replaced. A 3.31:1 differential is fitted along with an Ansa exhaust system. New differential oil was added in November 2019.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors, drivetrain numbers, and initial delivery in London for personal export delivery. A walk-around and drive video is viewable below.
