Car was at RM auction 10/09
    www.rmauctions.com/CarDetails.cfm

    Auction description:
    LOT: 651
    Estimate: $60,000-$80,000 US
    Chassis No. 1E15220
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $52,250

This particular E-Type was acquired by the current owner in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1981 and has been driven regularly ever since. The engine was rebuilt in the 1980s and the car was treated to a complete, nut-and-bolt restoration in 1990. In 2004 the car was freshened with work that included the brakes and calipers, tuning of the wire wheels, new black canvas top, carpets, hoses, belts, chrome and recalibration of the speedometer and odometer. As presented, it is finished in stunning red with a black interior and such features as a rear luggage rack, correct redline tires on chrome wire wheels and a Kenlowe electric fan for improved drivability. The vendor states the car has always been extremely well cared for. It is well sorted and needs nothing to be driven and enjoyed.

The Series I E-Type is considered the most desirable of the range, due to its purity of line and featuring the classic covered headlamps. Of these, the second iteration produced from 1965-1967 were significantly refined with their larger 4.2-liter engines, greatly improved seats and roomier cockpit. This car exemplifies those attributes in every respect.

    Addendum
Please note that records indicate the fitment of a factory-new engine block in 1989. The valve covers were also replaced to the late, series II Style.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
