Car was at auction 8/06
http://www.rmauctions.com/AuctionResults.cfm?SaleCode=MO06#

Auction description:
Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction - Friday, August 18, 2006 - Saturday, August 19, 2006
1967 Jaguar Series I 4.2 E-Type Roadster
LOT: 150
ESTIMATE: $90,000 - $120,000
CHASSIS NO: 1E14871
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $79,750
Wheelbase: 96"

The 1967 XKE is highly desirable because in 1968 it was significantly altered to comply with U.S. regulations, among other things, losing the headlight covers that contributed much to the Series I’s eye appeal and efficient aerodynamics.

The outstanding example presented here is one of the last of the Series I E-Types and is considered by many to be the most refined automobile of the entire XKE production run.
According to Jaguar Cars, Inc. historical paperwork this car was built on February 21, 1967. Its first owner kept the car until 1971 and then sold it to Scottsdale resident Jerry Foster who cherished it for 28 years. Prior to selling the E-Type in 1999 Jerry had it painstakingly restored to exacting JCNA standards, with the exception of the exterior color. Jerry chose to paint the Jaguar a richer version of the original Opalescent blue.

Today the Jaguar maintains its original matching numbers drivetrain and the body even retains its original spot welds. The E-Type has been expertly preserved in a private collection for the past five years, it remains in impressively fresh condition and is ready for concours duty or for open road driving pleasure.

Auction description:
1967 Jaguar E-Type XKE Series I OTS Roadster
VIN: 1E14871

A complete restoration on this multiple award-winning OTS, in a unique color combination, features outstanding fit and finish complementing this Series I E-Type.

Having garnered numerous awards and accolades, this example features exceptional fit and finish, along with the highest level of quality workmanship and mechanical performance. Complete with a prestigious show pedigree, the most recent being a 998.3 point award in JCNA judging competition.

The archives of Jaguar Cars, Inc. indicate and verify this was built on February 21, 1967. Retained by its original owner until 1971 it was then sold to Scottsdale resident Mr. Jerry Foster who enjoyed a long ownership history of over 28 years. Prior to selling the E-Type in 1999 the XKE was painstakingly restored to exacting JCNA standards, with the exception of the exterior color. Mr. Foster chose to paint the Jaguar a richer version of the original Opalescent blue to match another car in his coveted collection.

Today the Jaguar maintains its original matching numbers drivetrain and the body even retains its original spot welds. The E-Type has been expertly preserved in a private collection for the past five years and in testament to it's premiere level of restoration workmanship, remains in impressively fresh condition.

1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Roadster. 1967 was the last year of the most desirable series 1 cars. As a series 1 car it predates tightening US emissions regulations that drastically altered the later cars. This exceptional example was frame off restored by a well respected Jaguar collector/restorer marque specialist in Arizona. The total nut and bolt rotisserie restoration was recently completed. This example is finished in Teal Blue with hand selected black hides and complimented by a black soft top and chrome wire wheels. It is fully numbers matching. It was restored to an exceptionally high standard and drives superbly. This car is absolutely ready to be driven, shown and enjoyed.
