This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was sold new at Koster-Swope Imports of Louisville, Kentucky, in December 1967 and was acquired by the seller, reportedly from its second owner of 37 years, in August 2013. The car was subsequently transported to Christchurch, New Zealand, where the seller’s father performed a refurbishment that included a repaint in black, retrimming the beige interior, replacement of the black fabric convertible top, and overhauls of the suspension and the four-wheel disc brakes. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox, and additional equipment includes triple SU carburetors, rack-and-pinion steering, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The car was reimported to the US following the refurbishment and subsequent service included installing a replacement radiator fan and tuning the carburetors. This XKE roadster is now offered with a factory tool kit, a validated maintenance voucher booklet, original warranty documentation, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The body was factory-finished in Opalescent Dark Green and was repainted in black during the refurbishment. Features include wraparound chrome bumpers with overriders along with headlight covers, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual center-exit exhaust outlets. The black fabric soft top is said to have been patterned on the original and is fitted over a rebuilt and repainted frame. The seller notes pitting in the chrome on the rear taillight surrounds.

Replacement 15″ chrome curly-hub wire wheels secured with branded two-eared knock-offs are wrapped in 185-series Michelin X redline radial tires, and a spare is stowed beneath the trunk floor. The seller notes that the fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes were refreshed during the refurbishment.

The reupholstered cockpit features buckets seats trimmed in beige leather along with color-coordinated carpeting. Amenities include an adjustable steering column, an open glove compartment, a passenger-side grab handle, a padded center armrest, a push-button Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and replacement lap belts and sun visors. Replacement trunk linings were made and installed.

A refurbished wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 160-mph Smiths speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer as well as centrally situated gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer was replaced in 1970 and shows 6k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and a replacement stainless-steel exhaust system with polished center-exit tailpipes. The radiator and hoses were replaced during the refurbishment, and an aftermarket six-blade fan replaces the operational stock two-blade fan that is included in the sale. The seller notes that the carburetors were tuned in May 2022.

The cylinder head stamping 7E 11992-9 matches the engine number recorded on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate indicates a manufacture date of January 17th, 1967, and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York as well as the factory serial numbers and colors.
