This wonderful 1967 Series 1 E-Type Open Two Seater, one of the most original of its kind and certainly one of the most attractive.

Discovered recently by the Craig Brody Collection in Clearwater, Florida, the car was originally specially ordered by Mr. Reginald Dean of Fort Worth, Texas, who records show first had it serviced at Dallas Jaguar dealer Snuffy Smith Motor Company on November 7, 1967 at 1,734 miles. It was then sold to Mr. Michael Howerter from North Florida, who owned it until its purchase by its third and long-time owner, Mr. Ronald Mueller of Clearwater, Florida on November 11, 1982. Then showing just 17,770 miles, the car had apparently been the object of Mr. Mueller's desire for several years and he did not balk at the asking price of $18,500, a goodly sum in 1982 (the cancelled check is included in the car's extensive documentation). Although the Jaguar's snug cockpit was not the ideal scale to accommodate Mr. Mueller's six-foot-eight frame and he barely drove it more than 500 miles, he enjoyed owning the car, keeping it safely stored and regularly maintained in his vast collection of more than 30 cars before finally bidding it farewell after 32 years.

Now showing just 18,700 miles, the car still sports its original Black paint and original Black leather interior; the Black soft top was replaced by Mr. Mueller in 1985, and the original tires were replaced with new Michelin X radials on its original chromed wire wheels. The car is otherwise completely original, including its matching-numbers 4.2L inline six cylinder with triple Solex carburetion and 4-speed manual gearbox. It also comes complete with its full tool roll and hammer, the original owner's manual and other original paperwork.

Original examples of the late-production Series 1 of this quality are extremely rare. Craig Brody's research and subsequent acquisition of a Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms that the car retains the original chassis, body panels and drivetrain, and has had no rust or repairs. Information from the Jaguar Club of North America and its Judging Guide indicates that this is the eighth-last Series 1 produced with the desirable covered headlights. This outstanding XKE ranks as a reference-grade example of the quintessential Series 1 E-Type and a first-rate candidate for any great sports car collection.
