This 1967 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a left-hand-drive Series I example that was acquired by the seller 26 years ago after it reportedly spent 17 years with the previous owner. The car is equipped with a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, though the engine has not run for the last two years due to lack of compression in one cylinder. Finished in Cream over black leather, it was fitted with a replacement black soft top and a fresh interior 500 miles ago. This XKE is now offered as a non-running project with service records from the seller’s ownership, a tool kit and jack, a selection of spare parts, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The exterior was repainted prior to the seller’s acquisition in 1993 in Cream, reportedly its factory color. Holes for a luggage rack are present in the trunk lid panel. An uninstalled luggage rack is included with the sale, as is an extra factory trunk lid.
A replacement black soft top was installed approximately 500 miles ago and can be seen in the raised position above and in the gallery below. 15” chrome wire wheels are equipped and feature two-eared knock-off hubs, and a matching spare is stowed in the trunk.
The interior was re-trimmed in new black leather with matching carpeting about 500 miles ago. A wood-rimmed steering wheel is equipped, and an Audivox cassette player has been added in the upper console.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, with toggle-switch controls in the center dash. The five-digit odometer shows 82k miles, 5k of which were added by the seller.
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six features triple SU carburetors and produced 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque when new, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The engine is in non-running condition with no compression showing on the first cylinder, and the seller reports compression readings of 140 to 160 psi on the other five cylinders. The seller states one of the rear brakes is also locked, and areas of corrosion are noted underneath the front subframe. An oil change was completed 3k miles ago, and the fuel tank has been refurbished and relined.
Number 7E10907-9 is shown stamped in the cylinder head above and matches the engine number listed on the build sheet.
A factory tool kit is included with the sale as well as a jack and a collection of spare parts including:
Main and rod bearings with thrust washers
Dash and engine wiring harness
Alternator wiring harness
Ammeter wiring harness
New fuel gauge sender
Used tail lights and lenses
New rubber brake lines
New factory chrome exhaust tips
Bumper overriders
New top boot
Interior and body rubber parts, and other small parts.
